Questions regarding the nature of the tour or experience
Are tours tailored to beginners or experts?
All tours are customizable. Simply inform on the level of information you would like to have via making a note in the booking reservation when booking and we will gladly accommodate.
In what language will the tour be given?
While our tour guides are fluent in both English and Japanese, the default language of Nichome Tours is English.
Does the tour guide speak throughout, or is this an audio tour?
Nichome Connect tours are conducted in-person with individuals--allowing us to match your prefered pace and answer questions as they arise.
Who will guide me?
You will be well taken care of by one of our knowledgable local guides.
Our guides not only have deep knowledge of Japanese tea culture, but are tea practitioners themselves. All have lived abroad, speak both English and Japanese and are experienced conducting Japan based tours.
You will be guided responsibly, with passion, grace and enthusiasm.
How much time is spent in each place?
The tour duration is written in the description of each Tour and Experience. Additionally, a sample itinerary is written at the bottom of the page. Please reference this and if special considerations are required, please make a note in the booking reservation when booking.
Please be aware that sample itineraries are meant to be used as guidance; The time slot selected for the Tour when reserving will be the correct start time of the tour.
What is the size of each group?
Tours are maxed at 5-6 participants. If you have a large group, for select Experiences, we can make special arrangements by renting out entire spaces for exclusivity.

Can I break off from the tour group?
Certainly; Kindly let your tour guide know in advance if you will be exploring on your own.
Please note that, in the event you leave the group, no changes will be made to the tour iteniery and we are unable to refund any monies paid, even if you miss the start time of any meals or Experiences. Please also note that mid-entry is impermissible on some Experiences and we are unable to await your arrival, if rejoining.
Additionally, tour guides will be unable to leave the rest of the group or pause the tour to accommodate, should you require assistance.
Is the tour child friendly?
Nichome Connect tours are curated with adults in mind. Nothwithstanding, some tours are suitable for children.
Please reference the "Guest Requirements", "Activity Level" and "Accessibility Level" outlines, written in the description of each Tour or Experience for more information.
Alternatively, inform our Concierge of any special needs when reserving and we will be able to advise on suitability.
Is Kyoto safe for travel?
Yes; Kyoto has recently been designated as a toursit city by the Japanese government.
As such, on top of naturally being a safe city, the locals routinely make special accommodations for tourists to ensure pleasant memories.

Can I Make Changes To My Itinerary?
We will do our best to accommodate any requested changes to itineraries.
After the order has been confirmed, please note that order revision requests are subject to the below order revision fee:

All revisions to a confirmed order will incur 4000 JPY per person fee. This fee is non-refundable.

What is your cancellation policy?
We accept order cancellations made prior to the order being confirmed via an Order Confirmation e-mail sent.
Please be advised, that after the order confirmation e-mail has been sent, payment is due within 24 hours and the below Cancellation Policy takes effect.
CANCELLATION POLICY
16 Days or More Prior To Tour or Experience Start Date: No Cancellation Fee Levied; 100% of Order Amount Returned
15 days to 11 days Prior To Tour or Experience Start Date: 40% of Order Amount Reserved As Cancellation Fee; 60% of Order Amount Returned
10 days to 6 days Prior To Tour or Experience Start Date: 80% of Order Amount Reserved As Cancellation Fee; 20% of Order Amount Returned
5 Days or Less Prior To Tour or Experience Start Date: 100% of Order Amount Reserved As Cancellation Fee; 0% of Order Amount Returned
Payments not made within 24 hours of Order Confirmation send date will be cancelled and participant space allotted will be released.

General Questions
Common questions about tour details and customizations:
Are tours all-inclusive, or are there additional fees?
Tours are all-inclusive.
What is and what isn't included in the price is clearly denoted in each Tour and Tour Add-On (Experience) description.
For what is included in the fee, reference the "What's Included" tab. For what is excluded from the fee, reference the "What's Not Included" tab.
For tours where special consideration has been taken, the final cost as well as inclusions and exclusions will be clearly written in the order confirmation and order payment link.
What is the inclement weather policy?
With the exception of typhoons and other dangerous weather, the tour will likely proceed, as expected.
For Bike tours, please read the Inclement Weather policy located in the tour description under the "Cancellation Policy" tab.
Your pre-Tour e-mail reminder will include the weather forecast, so please plan accordingly.
In the event a tour requires cancellation on our end due to inclement weather, you will receive a full refund.
